Awareness of Clean Planet

“Awareness of a Clean Planet”

Date: September 23, 2023

Location: Intercontinental Hotel, Amman, Jordan.

Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Talal, the three Inner Wheel Clubs in Jordan – Amman, Philadelphia, and Petra – came together to host a remarkable seminar titled “Awareness of a Clean Planet.” This seminar was held as part of District 95 Egypt and Jordan Mega Project for this centennial year “ Save the Earth”.

The event brought together distinguished speakers, environmental initiatives, and young minds passionate about environmental sustainability.

Guest Speakers:

*  HE Mrs. Haifa Najjar – Minister of Culture: The seminar had the privilege of hosting HE Mrs. Haifa Najjar, who shared insights into the cultural aspects of environmental awareness, emphasizing the importance of cultural preservation in the journey towards a cleaner planet.

*  HE Mr. Nabil Masarweh – Former Minister of Environment: Representing HRH Princess Basma, his excellency delivered a thought-provoking address, highlighting the crucial role of leadership and government initiatives in environmental conservation.

Panel Speakers:

The seminar featured a diverse panel of experts who provided invaluable perspectives on environmental conservation:

*  Mrs. Mayyada Abu Jaber, PhD: A Management of Technology and Innovation expert and Echidna Global Scholar at the Brookings Institution, UNESCO The Da Vinci Institute, Mrs. Abu Jaber shared her extensive knowledge on the role of women in advancing the environmental challenges.

*  Mr. Osama Hasan: An Eco-tourism & Landscaping Development Expert, Mr. Hasan’s insights into preserving natural and cultural sites were enlightening. His international experience, including work with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature added depth to the discussions.

*  Mr. Mahamad Asfour – Head of the Green Building Council: Mr. Asfour’s expertise in green building practices and sustainability provided attendees with valuable insights into environmentally friendly construction and design.

Student Participation:

The seminar showcased the dedication of IB students from various schools who shared their personal projects related to environmental sustainability. Their enthusiasm and innovative ideas served as an inspiration to all in attendance.

Environmental Initiatives:

Four local environmental initiatives made their presence felt at the seminar:

*  The Arab Group For The Protection of Nature a non for profit organization. concerned with the protection of the environment and natural resources of Arab countries against all hazards.

*  King Hussein Cancer Center: The center’s involvement highlighted the intersection of health and the environment, emphasizing the need for a clean planet for a healthier future.

*  ProjectSea Initiative: A dedicated initiative to extend the passion of scuba diving towards cleaning up the sea.

*  Ahl Albalad Initiative: Focused on community-driven environmental efforts, in promoting environmental awareness.

Artistic Expression:

One of the most heartwarming aspects of the seminar was the display of paintings created by children with Down Syndrome from the Bunayat Center for Special Education in Jordan. Their artwork conveyed powerful messages about the urgency of preserving our planet, reminding us all that the responsibility for a clean environment rests on our shoulders.

Conclusion:

The “Awareness of a Clean Planet” seminar, was a successful event due to the dedication of the members of the Inner Wheels Clubs in Jordan. It not only educated attendees about the critical need for environmental awareness but also demonstrated the power of collaboration, innovation, and grassroots initiatives in building a sustainable future. This event serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who are committed to the cause of a cleaner, healthier planet.

environmental preservation activity for the International Day of Peace for Inner Wheel Clubs

In activation of the International Day of the Deaf, which was celebrated on September 15, 2023, the members of the Innerwheel Club of  Mansoura , headed by Mrs. Shadia Al-Ashry, on September 18, visited the Nedaa Association for the Rehabilitation of Hearing Impaired Children, which is one of the club’s sustainable projects, and they made a donation amounting to 10,000 pounds. May God always enable us to continue the path of goodness and giving.

Petra Club Naqsh activity

IWC of Petra under the presidency of Mrs. Dina Alawneh organized a cultural event at NAQSH COLLECTIVE workshop and gallery. This beautiful event was hosted by the founder Mrs. Nisreen Abu Dail at her residence.

We were honored with the presence of D95 NR Mrs. Nahla Sweis, D95 Vice Chairman Mrs. Rula El-Hawi Farradj, D95 Webmaster Mrs. Alia Alayyan.

Members and guests enjoyed the performance of Mosaica Singers ‘An Award-Winning Jordanian Choir ‘

We took this opportunity to celebrate our dear club member Mrs. Rula El-Hawi for taking office this year as D95 Vice Chairman in Jordan.

All proceeds will go to the club’s projects.

In Celebration of IWD , the IWC of Petra Organized an event at Segreta’s Restaurant

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Inner Wheel Club of Petra, headed by Mona Hamzeh Abu Al-Ragheb, organized an event at Segreta’s Restaurant in the Amman St. Regis Hotel, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

The D95 Vice Chairman in Jordan Mrs. Abeer Dajani honored us with her presence, and her speech delivered on this occasion.

The event began with honoring three creative women in the fields in which they work.

Dr. Manal Jarrar is the General Manager of the National Insurance Company, she is the first female received the title of General Manager of an insurance company at the level of Arab world, bearing in mind that this position was exclusive to men.

Jarrar was included on the list of the 100 most powerful Arab businesswomen in the Middle East and North Africa region, according to Forbes magazine, for seven years in a row.

Dr. Fadia Samara is a health policy expert and activist in the field of promoting patients’ rights. Samara heads the “Himmetna” Foundation and serves as its CEO. Their mission is to consolidate the right of all patients to receive proper treatment in a fair and safe environment and under conditions that preserve their dignity and humanity.

Dr. Maha Otoum is a distinguished Jordanian poet. She teaches modern criticism in the Department of Arabic Language at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Jordan.

President of IWC of Petra handed over a cash donation to Mrs. Taima’a Kawar,  the President of the Jordan Education for Women Empowerment and Learning Society (JEWELS) , as an education tuition of an outstanding university female student.

Mrs. Khoulud Abu Aisheh Bakr, IWC of Petra member, personal stylist and color consultant, gave a useful demonstration on how women can coordinate their appearance in line with their personality.

The atmosphere at “Segreta” was brimming with joy during the “Question and Answer” segment and the distribution of gifts to the winners.

IWC of Petra planted a tree in the garden of Pioneer Senior Citizens Forum

In conjunction with the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2022, COP27 World in Sharm El Sheik, and in line with its objectives to preserve nature, environment and climate from pollution and heat emissions, and in response to the initiative of Mrs. Nora Fayek, Chairman of District 95 Egypt and Jordan, the Inner Wheel Club of Petra headed by Mona Hamzeh Abu Al-Ragheb, planted a tree in the garden of Pioneer Senior Citizens Forum, which was established to serve the welfare and interests of the elderly.

The club’s ladies were received by the founder and chairwoman of the forum, Mrs. Haifa Al-Bashir, who appreciated this initiative to plant trees, either individually or as part of a group, in order to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. Mrs. Al-Bashir expressed her wish that such constructive initiatives continue on larger scale

IWC of Petra & Mona Hamzeh ‘s cultural Salon hosted the Egyptian novelist Hisham Al-Khishen

On Wednesday, September 28, 2022

The Inner Wheel Club of  Petra, headed by Mona Hamzeh Abu Al-Ragheb, and in cooperation with Mona Hamzeh’s Cultural Salon, organized a cultural meeting on, with the Egyptian novelist Hisham Al-Khishen.
The guest writer talked about his journey with writing, and shed light on his motives for writing each of his eight published novels, and what inspired him to write them. Mr. Al-Khishen answered all questions asked by the audience related to his literary works. At the end of the meeting, Mrs. Abu Al-Ragheb thanked Mr. Al-Khishen and presented him the shield of the club

IWC of Petra in Cooperation of Mona’s Culural Salon Discuss the Book “Years of Struggle: The Women’s Movement in Jordan

The Inner Wheel Club of Petra, headed by Mrs. Mona Hamzeh Abu Al-Ragheb, and in cooperation with Mona’s Cultural Salon, held a cultural event to discuss the book: “Years of Struggle: The Women’s Movement in Jordan «, in the presence of its author , the well-known journalist Rana Al-Husseini.

We were honored by the presence of the National Representative of District 95 Egypt and Jordan, Mrs. Suzan Kilani Al-Tayeh, the President of IWC of Amman, Mrs. Vivian Anz, the President of the IWC of Philadelphia, Mrs. Duha Abdel-Hadi, and an umpteen audience of members and guests from the Cultural Salon and Inner Wheel Petra.

It was an interesting session full of discussions and valuable interventions, our guest Al-Husseini answered all questions asked, and presented signed copies of her book to the attendees.

On Monday 29/11/2021, Inner Wheel Club of Petra headed by Mrs. Lynn Farraj Muasher, visited the “Safsaf Center” of the Jordanian Society for Psychological Rehabilitation, which was established in 1989 under the chairmanship of Mrs. Haifa Al-Bashir and works on psychological, social and professional rehabilitation for the beneficiaries of the Society’s services, to achieve their proper integration into society and economic empowerment for them, in order to reduce the social stigma associated with mental illness.
The association also provides psychological support and rehabilitation and vocational training in sewing, weaving, mosaic, music, carpentry and computer.
The ladies made a tour in which they were briefed on the association’s distinguished facilities, and how the beneficiaries spend their time and their internal residence.
Mrs. Muasher presented a check from the members of the IWC of Petra for this charitable foundation, and its noble goals.

Members  of  IWC of Petra, headed by Mrs. Lynne Muasher  made a trip to the Scandinavian forest, the coniferous forest covering an area of 5,000 acres, which His Majesty King Hussein bin Talal, may God rest his soul, named it by this name in honor of the King of Sweden Carl Gustaf during his visit to Jordan, where they planted its first tree together in 1989.
The ladies spent an enjoyable time in nature, on an hour’s hike away from the city’s noise on a beautiful hill overlooking the city of Amman.

IWC of Amman Petra organized a Cultural event

14/2/2021 – The Inner Wheel Club of Petra headed by Mrs. Seneen Baghdadi Chehabi, in cooperation with the Mona Hamzeh Cultural Salon, organized a musical evening on Zoom with the Egyptian singer and composer Sherif Ismail, on the occasion of Valentine’s Day .  The evening was attended by the Past Chairman of District 95, Egypt and Jordan, Mrs. Suzan Kilani and Mrs. Jida Farradj, President of Inner Wheel Club of Amman .

Sherif brought back to us memories of old songs and we were also happy to listen to a bunch of songs from his tunes.
