IW Of Alexandria East Club – visit to the Faculty of Medicine at Alexandria University

IW Of Alexandria East Club.
On Sunday, February 25, 2024, the Alexandria East Innerwheel Club, led
by Dr. Mona Gamal and accompanied by several members, paid a visit to
the Faculty of Medicine at Alexandria University. They delivered medical
devices purchased for the Children’s Oncology Treatment Center at Borg
El Arab University Hospital, including 2 ECG devices, 3 suction devices,
and 10 microscope cases, tailored to the center’s requirements. Dr.
Essam Badawy, the Head of the Central Administration of Hospitals at
Alexandria University, welcomed the delegation.

Alexandria East Club – Borg El Arab villages visit

Alexandria East Club.

On Tuesday, January 16, 2024, the IWC of Alexandria East led by Dr. Mona Gamal and accompanied by some colleagues, visited several villages at Borg El Arab where water connections were being established. The club generously donated 50 water connections. Engineer Ahmed Gaber, Chairman and Managing Director of the Drinking Water Company in Alexandria welcomed the club members. The visit was a success, allowing members to interact with the residents of the newly connected houses.

IW Of Alexandria East – workshop on surface planting at the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology

IW Of Alexandria East.

On December 28, 2023 the Alexandria East IW club, led by Prof. Mona Gamal ElDin Ibrahim, hosted a workshop on surface planting. The event took place at the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology and involved 37 students. The workshop’s goal was to cultivate an environmental sense of responsibility among students and offer hands-on experience in sustainable gardening. Additionally, participants were trained in creatively decorating plant containers, highlighting the potential of recycling materials for sustainable living.

Alexandria East Club – Enviornment Day activity

Under the slogan, “Shine a Light,” and in line with the national project of District 95/ Egypt and Jordan, and coinciding with the World Environment Day 2023, under the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution, ”: Inner Wheel Club Alexandria East, with Prof. Mona Gamal Eldin Ibrahim, and a group of club members held a beach cleaning campaign to clean Ras Eltin beach in Bahary district, Alexandria on the 14th of October.

The campaign was organised in collaboration with the Environmental Club at Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology in new Borg El Arab city, Alexandria.

Participants collected garbage and various waste from the beach, including plastic bottles, cigarettes, food wrappers and other materials that pollute the environment.

They also painted some walls and garbage baskets thus encouraging the public to visit the beach and throw the garbage in its proper place.

Innerwheel Alexandria East Club always strives to serve the community and support its various institutions.

Six Alexandria clubs with Damanhour Awarness Seminar, under the slogan “Save the Earth”

On September 30th, the Six Alexandria Inner Wheel Clubs ( Alexandria, East, Nozha, Sporting, Mediterranean and Capital ) with Damanhour IW club worked on achieving the goal of the Awarness Seminar under the Slogan (Save the Earth)

The Seminar started at 1:30pm ،by the Egyptian & Jordanian National Anthems. Then a recorded welcome speech of the IIW President Mrs Trish Douglas was displayed. Mrs. Viola Ramsis vice chairman and organizer of Seminar welcomed the audience and simplified the program .

It was now Mrs Mona Aboelfetouh district 95 speech, followed by the Under Secretary of Ministry of Environment Mr. Sameh Riad. Then the Speakers started:

  • Prof. Mona Gamal El Dine Dean of School of Energy and Environmental Engineering Egypt-Japan University Tackling Climate Changes: Toward green environment
  • Prof.Essam Wahba Vice dean For Graduate Studies and Research Faculty of Engineering University of Alexandria Renewable energy and Climate Changes
  • Prof.Boshra Salem Department of environmental Sciences Faculty of Science Alexandria University Sustainability Transformation
  • Dr.Bakr Gomaa Assistant Dean of Education Arab Academy for Science Technology and Maritime Transport Greening Cities
  • Dr. Shaimaa El Gobashi assistant Professor of Architecture and environmental design at Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Marine transport Interior Design Inspired by surrounding environment to limit climate Change crisis.

Pinning of 3 new members to IWC of Mediterranean took place.

Finally lunch was served.

On Thursday, the 23rd of February, The Inner Wheel club of Alexandria East headed by Dr Mona Gamal, donated a sum of money to the Egyptian Red crescent for the benefit of the Syrian earthquake victims.

The IWC of Alexandria and the IWC of Alexandria East hosted a lecture by the Egyptologist Dr Wassim El Sisi

On Sunday 18th December 2022 The IWC of Alexandria headed by Mona El Hakim and the IWC of Alexandria East headed by Mona Gamal hosted a lecture presented by the Egyptologist Dr Wassim El Sisi about his latest book “Who are We, Genetically Physically and Religiously “ Dr El Sisi also talked about our ancient Egyptian civilization.

The District 95 Egypt & Jordan past Chairmen Mrs Samia Hatata and Mrs Mona Aref attended the seminar as well as many other IW members, their guests and a group of business men.

It was an interesting and successful event in the love of Egypt.

Mrs. Nora Fayek D95 Chairman attended a Charity Christmas Lunch organized by IWC of Alexandria & IWC of Alexandria East

On Monday 5th of December 2022, Mrs. Nora Fayek the chairman of D95 Egypt & Jordan, and her accompanying delegation Afaf Maged the Vice Chairman, and Hala Hagras the Past Chairman attended the Charity Christmas Lunch organized by the IWC of Alexandria headed by Mona El Hakim and IWC of Alexandria East headed by Mona Gamal at the Syrian Club.

We also had the honor to have with us Enaya Sharara the Deputy NR, Mervat El Azzouni the Webmaster, Sherifa Sakr the Past IlW Board Member, and the Past D95 Chairmen Zainab El Ghazaly, Awatef El Nacharty, Samia Hatata, Mona Aref, and Mona Abou El Fetouh the PD Honorary Secretary.

The IWC of Alexandria and the IWC of Alexandria East presidents Mona El Hakim and Mona Gamal welcomed the D95 Chairman and all the board members and distinguished guests.

Then Mrs. Nora Fayek spoke about the visit of the IIW President to Cairo on the 10th of January 2023 and the importance of the attendance of IW members.

The Christmas event also included a small charity bazaar where a group of young special needs participated with their handicraft products as well as leather products and handbags made from recycled materials.

After lunch was served, everyone enjoyed cheerful oldies by Tarek Nassar and his band in an atmosphere full of joy and love.

IWC of Alexandria East Hosted Egyptian Author Dr. Reem Bassiouny

On October 22,

IWC of Alexandria East hosted Egyptian Author Dr.Reem Basiouny in a seminar entitled “The Fatimids’ truth and Building Cairo”

Dr. Bassiouny won Naguib Mahfouz Award from Egypt’s Supreme Council for Culture in the Egyptian novel category, The Mamluk Trilogy. She was also the winner of the National Prize for Excellence in Literature of the year 2022 from the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.

It was an interesting seminar where Dr.Bassiouny talk about her new book “El Halawany “ and She answered all questions asked by the audience

At the end, she signed copies of her books to the attendees

IWC of Alexandria East Twinning Protocol with IWC of Ilioupolis Greece, 2022

 

On January 22nd, 2022 Inner Wheel Club of Alexandria East D95 Egypt and Jordan signed a Twinning Protocol with Inner Wheel Club of Ilioupolis District 247 Greece.
The event was on zoom with the presence of Presidents and members from both clubs.
After hearing both the National Anthem of the two countries ,Mrs. Nadia Mohy El Din PlWC of Alexandria East and Mrs. Penny Alexatou PIWC of Ilioupolis Greece gave a speech of welcome and congratulations .It was our pleasure that Mrs Mona Aref PP of D95 Egypt and Jordan attended also the signing of the protocol.
It was a joyful event demonstrating the true IW spirit of friendship without borders .
We would like to thank our colleague Mrs Amel Shabaan for her efforts with the president of Ilioupolis club Mrs Penny Alexatou to come up with the above mentioned Twinning .
