Elimination of Violence against Women Workshop

Under the theme “Heartbeat of humanity “and on the sidelines of the
International day of Violence against Women which started from the 25th
of Nov till the 10th of December ,with the aim to make efforts during this period to educate young girls and women to confront the psychological and physical violence.
In furtherance of this goal the African Center for women’s Health
services in cooperation with Inner Wheel Club of Alexandria East headed by Mrs Magda Sallam organized a workshop on the 5th of Dec a
conforonting psychological violence for 70 girls from middle and high
schools,with the presence of members of the club .
The workshop started by a word from Dr Eman Hagag “Mental Health
Consultant“in which she reviewed the types of violence such as
domestic violence,harassment,sexual assault and cyber violence. The
causes ,forms, and their negative impact on women and society.She also
defined the word bullying .
The students then presented their experiences and the problems they
faced due to bullying and psychological violence.
Emphasis was placed on the role of the family,schools , and media to
confront all types of violence .
In the end, they suggested that values ,principles, and respect among
individuals are a must .
It was a very successful workshop .

World Diabetes Day (WDD) Celebration

On 14 of Nov 2024
 Inner wheel Club of Alexandria East, headed by Mrs Magda Sallam,
participated with the African Center for Women’s Health Services and Noon Foundation in
their celebration under the name of “Diabetes museum “on the
occasion of World Diabetes Day.
Through the Diabetes Museum, they reviewed the development of the
disease since the days of the Pharaohs and how it was discovered and
treated .
A number of specialized doctors explained the importance of early
detection ،how to protect eye complications , diabetic nutrition, and
its role in avoiding diabetic consequences and its complications .
It was a successful and useful celebration.

CULTURAL SEMINAR

On Saturday, the 2nd of Nov 2024, at the Syrian club of Alexandria under
the theme (Heartbeat of Humanity), IWC of Alexandria East headed by Mrs
Magda Salaam hosted the famous Egyptian writer Reem Bassiouny, Professor
and head of the Linguistics Department the American University of Cairo
to discuss her new novel (Al Ghawas). The book talks about the
philosopher Abou Hamed el Ghazaly, his search of certainty giving up
wealth and positions, and adopting Sofi thoughts. Everyone enjoyed the
interactive, fruitful discussion. Mrs Magda Sallam also presented to the
new member, Mrs Doha Haggag, the badge of the Inner wheel. We were
honoured by the presence of Dr. Mervat El Azzouni, District 95 Egypt and
Jordan Vice Chairman, Mrs Sherifa Sakr, past Chairman of District 95
Egypt and Jordan, National Representative and former member of the
International Inner wheel. Mrs Mona el Hakim, president of Inner Wheel
Club of Alexandria and Mrs Heba el Kadi, head of Inner Wheel Club of
Alexandria Nozha.

Environmental awareness for school children

On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, and Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the IWC
of Alexandria East, headed by Mrs. Magda Salam, and accompanied with
some club members, visited two schools in Borg El Arab City and  two
schools in Alexandria .The aim of the visit was to distribute the “Green
Corner” collection, which are books to raise environmental awareness for
primary and preparatory school students. These were successful visits,
in which we were received by the officials of these schools, who
expressed their gratitude for providing school libraries with these
useful books

Tourism Day and Peace day

International Tourism Day/Peace Day.

On Saturday, 28th September 2024, under the theme “Heartbeat of
Humanity”, The IW Clubs of Alexandria (Alexandria, East, El Nozha,
Sporting, Mediterranean and Capital) in collaboration with the “Ministry
of Tourism” and the “Yacht Club of Egypt”, celebrated the International
Day of Peace & Day of Tourism at the Yacht Club of Egypt. This reflects
on the profound connection between tourism and peace.

The celebration started by planting an olive tree “Wish Tree” and
included a mural for peace and tourism painted by Kemet Institution’s
youth and art exhibition by “Sohbet Fann” group. The art exhibition for
peace provided children and youth with a temporary escape from
destructive conflict and simultaneously provides them with an outlet for
their emotions, opinions, and hopes for the future.

The celebration also included Indian folklore dance by “Mawlana” centre,
Egyptian Pharaonic dance by “Tafanin Academy” and a bazaar for
traditional pharaonic, Indian and Russian handicrafts.

Finally, a seminar for peace and tourism was held where the following
topics were covered “Peace building” and “The role of art in promoting
tourism and peace.” The speakers in this seminar included: Prof. Mervat
El Azzouni – Vice Chairman of District 95, Mrs. Mona El Hakim –
President of Peace Committee Rotary Egypt/President of IWC Alexandria,
Mr. Mario De Pascoaly – Honorary Consul of Italy, Mr. Arsini M. –
Director of the Russian Cultural House & Deputy Consul General of
Russia, Ms. Farrah El Dibany, super soprano, and Eng. Hassan Wasfy –
Syndicate of Fine Arts.

The celebration was attended by Dr. Amel El Ghitany- District 95
Webmaster, the IWC’s of Alexandria Presidents, Mrs. Magda Sallam (IWC
Alex East), Mrs. Heba el Kady (IWC Alex ElNozha), Mrs. Amany Selim (IWC
Alex Sporting), Mrs. Heba Aboul Nasr (IWC Alex Mediterranean), Mrs.
Nevine Abd El Rasoul (IWC Alex Capital), Mrs. Soheir Fahmy (IWC Alex
Cleopatra) and Mrs. Zahra EL Lakany (IWC Damanhour).

IW Of Alexandria & Alexandria East Clubs -seminar featuring notable professors

IW Of Alexandria & Alexandria East Clubs.

On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, the IWC of Alexandria, led by Mrs. Shahira Maher and accompanied by Vice President Mrs. Khadiga Khashana, collaborated with the IWC of Alexandria East, under the leadership of Dr. Mona Gamal, to host a seminar featuring notable professors: – Ms. Demiana Sami, a nutrition researcher and clinical nutritionist – Ms. Irene Akram, the founder of the Medium Initiative focusing on eating disorders treatment, dance, and movement therapy – Ms. Marwa Gaber, a psychological researcher The seminar, titled “Metwanesa,” explored topics such as compassion, combating loneliness, the significance of vitamins and their alternative sources, and ways to appreciate the body’s capacity for movement. The guests thoroughly enjoyed the discussions and ideas presented, fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie and positivity.

IW Of Alexandria East Club – Al Miri Hospital at the Faculty of Medicine in Alexandria visit

On Saturday, April 6, 2024, Alexandria East, IWC led by Dr. Mona Gamal
and Mrs. Saher Gazarine, visited Al Miri Hospital at the Faculty of
Medicine in Alexandria. They contributed equipment and valves for Open
Heart Surgery. The team was welcomed by Professor Dr. Akram Allam, the
head of the Cardiology Department, and Professor Dr. Ayman Nosseir, the
Director of Al Miri Hospital.

IW Of Alexandria East Club – Rashida El Hagaa Integrated House for Mental Disabilities (“Life for All”) visit

On Thursday, March 7, 2024, Vice President Mrs. Saher Gazarine of
Innerwheel Alexandria East, along with several members, paid a visit to
the association of Rashida El Hagaa Integrated House for Mental
Disabilities (“Life for All”). They were guided by Mrs. Soheir Mahfouz,
the association’s manager, on a tour to observe the various activities
practiced by the residents.
