Philadelphia Club – meeting to renew lasting bonds of friendship over lunch

Philadelphia Club.
December 14th.
“Renewing love and strengthening friendship ties, is what we shine a
light on today, in addition to welcoming new members.”

On Tuesday December 12/ 2023 the members of Philadelphia IW Club, headed
by Mrs. Hanan Ghawi and with the participation of friends from Amman and
Petra Clubs, met to renew lasting bonds of friendship over a luncheon at
the Jordan Intercontinental Hotel.
The ladies welcomed the two new members, as Mrs. Nahla Qubain, the
National Representative , pinned Mrs. Sanaa Hakim with the club’s pin
as a new member after reading the New Inner Wheel Member Oath.
Also, Mrs. Alia Alayan, the webmaster, pinned Mrs. Lydia Sunaa, as a new
member.
The participants were also honored by the presence of District 95/ vice
chairman Mrs. Rula Farraj , and Mrs. Nuha Asfour, President of Amman
Club.
The gathering was marked by exchanging wishes for a new year filled with
peace and love.

Awareness of Clean Planet

“Awareness of a Clean Planet”

Date: September 23, 2023

Location: Intercontinental Hotel, Amman, Jordan.

Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Talal, the three Inner Wheel Clubs in Jordan – Amman, Philadelphia, and Petra – came together to host a remarkable seminar titled “Awareness of a Clean Planet.” This seminar was held as part of District 95 Egypt and Jordan Mega Project for this centennial year “ Save the Earth”.

The event brought together distinguished speakers, environmental initiatives, and young minds passionate about environmental sustainability.

Guest Speakers:

*  HE Mrs. Haifa Najjar – Minister of Culture: The seminar had the privilege of hosting HE Mrs. Haifa Najjar, who shared insights into the cultural aspects of environmental awareness, emphasizing the importance of cultural preservation in the journey towards a cleaner planet.

*  HE Mr. Nabil Masarweh – Former Minister of Environment: Representing HRH Princess Basma, his excellency delivered a thought-provoking address, highlighting the crucial role of leadership and government initiatives in environmental conservation.

Panel Speakers:

The seminar featured a diverse panel of experts who provided invaluable perspectives on environmental conservation:

*  Mrs. Mayyada Abu Jaber, PhD: A Management of Technology and Innovation expert and Echidna Global Scholar at the Brookings Institution, UNESCO The Da Vinci Institute, Mrs. Abu Jaber shared her extensive knowledge on the role of women in advancing the environmental challenges.

*  Mr. Osama Hasan: An Eco-tourism & Landscaping Development Expert, Mr. Hasan’s insights into preserving natural and cultural sites were enlightening. His international experience, including work with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature added depth to the discussions.

*  Mr. Mahamad Asfour – Head of the Green Building Council: Mr. Asfour’s expertise in green building practices and sustainability provided attendees with valuable insights into environmentally friendly construction and design.

Student Participation:

The seminar showcased the dedication of IB students from various schools who shared their personal projects related to environmental sustainability. Their enthusiasm and innovative ideas served as an inspiration to all in attendance.

Environmental Initiatives:

Four local environmental initiatives made their presence felt at the seminar:

*  The Arab Group For The Protection of Nature a non for profit organization. concerned with the protection of the environment and natural resources of Arab countries against all hazards.

*  King Hussein Cancer Center: The center’s involvement highlighted the intersection of health and the environment, emphasizing the need for a clean planet for a healthier future.

*  ProjectSea Initiative: A dedicated initiative to extend the passion of scuba diving towards cleaning up the sea.

*  Ahl Albalad Initiative: Focused on community-driven environmental efforts, in promoting environmental awareness.

Artistic Expression:

One of the most heartwarming aspects of the seminar was the display of paintings created by children with Down Syndrome from the Bunayat Center for Special Education in Jordan. Their artwork conveyed powerful messages about the urgency of preserving our planet, reminding us all that the responsibility for a clean environment rests on our shoulders.

Conclusion:

The “Awareness of a Clean Planet” seminar, was a successful event due to the dedication of the members of the Inner Wheels Clubs in Jordan. It not only educated attendees about the critical need for environmental awareness but also demonstrated the power of collaboration, innovation, and grassroots initiatives in building a sustainable future. This event serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who are committed to the cause of a cleaner, healthier planet.

environmental preservation activity for the International Day of Peace for Inner Wheel Clubs

In activation of the International Day of the Deaf, which was celebrated on September 15, 2023, the members of the Innerwheel Club of  Mansoura , headed by Mrs. Shadia Al-Ashry, on September 18, visited the Nedaa Association for the Rehabilitation of Hearing Impaired Children, which is one of the club’s sustainable projects, and they made a donation amounting to 10,000 pounds. May God always enable us to continue the path of goodness and giving.

IWC of Philadelphia completed the preparation of the Moonlight Association clinic.

IWC of Philadelphia completed the preparation of the Moonlight Association clinic in Al Hussein camp for refugees ,for the care of orphans.
The clinic has been retiled and provided with blood glucose meter and blood pressure devices , a trolley for medical usage and 2 desks and 2 chairs .
A doctor will be hired to work at this clinic to serve the residents of the Al Hussein camp for a symbolic pay which will in return provide some income for the Moon light association .

IWC of Philadelphia completing the third phase, a monitor for the emergency room, in the Gaza Camp Project.

Inner Wheel Club of Philadelphia headed by Mrs. Duha Bushnaq Abdel-Hadi, met on Monday May 8,2023 at Beit Shaker Restaurant, in the presence of Mrs. Abeer Dajani, Vice Chairman of District 95.

Mrs. Duha talked about the club’s project for this year in the Gaza Camp, where the club is in the process of completing the third phase which is a monitor for the emergency room to measure pulse, temperature and blood pressure.

One of the women who participated in the event donated a percentage of her work income for the benefit of the Gaza Camp project. The President thanked her for this beautiful gesture.

‘ Himitna’ the charitable association had the honor of opening the project for rehabilitating and developing.

Under the patronage of his highness Crown Prince Hussein the son of his Majesty king Abdullah the second,‘ Himitna’ the charitable association had the honor of opening the project for rehabilitating and developing the comprehensive princess Basma medical center in Al -Muhajireen area/ Ras al Ein on Thursday 26/1/2023.
The past president of the club of Inner Wheel Amman Philadelphia for the year 2021/2022 Mrs Nazi Faris was invited to the opening of this project where the club donation was for restoring the dental clinic and providing a dental examination device.
This project was one of many projects that were carried out by the administrative committee of last year.
The name of club the was written on the door of the dental clinic and on the list of supporters at the entrance of the center.
His highness Crown Prince and the attendees were impressed by this medical edifice which caters for 22000 persons monthly.
We congratulate Mrs Nazi Kupti Faris and congratulate ourselves, the Innerwheel club of Amman Philadelphia for such an achievement and look forward to more success to our club

The Chairwoman of District 95 Egypt and Jordan, Mrs. Hala Hagrass met in the presence of the National Representative Mrs. Iman Al-Bashari, and the Executive Committee of District 95, with guest members IWCs of Egypt of and the three Inner Wheel Clubs of Jorden, Amman, Philadelphia and Petra, at the Amman Rotana Hotel.
Mrs. Hala listened to the presentations of the three clubs’ projects during this year by the club’s Presidents .
She then gave a speech in which she thanked the clubs for the efforts made and urged them to cooperate among themselves to work on joint mega projects.
Mrs. Iman Al-Bashari, gave a speech in which she clarified some of the Inner Wheel laws and announced the name and logo of next year’s International Inner Wheel President coming from the Philippines.
At the end of the meeting, Mrs. Hala Hagrass presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to the presidents of the three clubs.

With Ramadan in his last ten days, where these days are distinguished by their virtue and holiness, the Inner Wheel Club of Philadelphia, presided by Mrs. Nazi Copty Faris took the initiative to provide a variety of foodstuffs to the “Dar Al-Iman” Centre that supports and houses Orphan children and youth deprived of parental care. Some members of the club also donated the house with Suhoor meals from McDonald’s restaurant . Swings and a slide were among the gifts that were donated to the house as well . We always pray to God to make us able to help the needy people and bring joy to the hearts of others.
I wish everyone a happy Ramadan .

Inner Wheel Club of Amman Philadelphia headed by Mrs. Nazi Copty Faris and a number of club members celebrated Valentine’s Day by visiting the Tiraz Museum (house of Mrs. Widad Kawar for Arab Dresses).
The walls and halls of this museum are adorned with Jordanian, Palestinian and Syrian heritage of dresses, handicrafts and beautiful fabrics.
Miss Laila Mushahwar took the members on a tour in the museum and spoke in depth about the beautifully embroidered dresses and what they symbolize.
The club donated the proceeds of this program to the Nour Al Baraka Association, represented by Mrs. Olga Najma, who gave an idea about the association and its goals that work to empower young people with special needs, and positively integrate them into society by marketing everything the family needs from healthy products free of preservatives in Noor Al Baraka Market in Princess Iman Garden in Rabieh.

“Plant a tree that will be a shade for you tomorrow.”
On the occasion of the Tree Day, which falls on January 15th,2022 in Jordan, and under the patronage of Her Excellency Mrs. Haifa Najjar, Minister of Culture, PIWC of Philadelphia Mrs. Nazi Qebti Fares,with club members and public authority planted a group of Olive trees in the garden of the Bishop’s School for Boys in Jabal Amman.
Mrs. Nazi Qebti thanked the Minister for sponsoring this program. Her Excellency also noted the importance of agriculture, from which we work to achieve the goal of a green Jordan and the preservation of the environment. She thanked Philadelphia Club for this beautiful gesture.
This event also came in response to the initiative of CD 95, Mrs. Hala Hagrass, to plant trees on the IIW day, which is on January 10, 2022.
It is worth mentioning that the club will make this program a sustainable project and allocate a garden in the name of the IWC of Philadelphia in the garden of the school’s new building project.
