” Save the earth to see on it what you want to see tomorrow ”
On Saturday, September 23, the activities of the Cairo Seminar began with the playing of the Egyptian and Jordanian national anthems, followed by the opening speech by Mrs. Trish Douglas, President of the International Innerwheel, and Her Excellency spoke on the following points:
I would like to convey to you the greetings of the International Innerwheel Board of Directors and its Executive Board on this great event, as Egypt and Jordan begin holding 3 climate conferences. This represents a fundamental and important initiative as we head into an unparalleled era of extreme heat and floods.
In China there is rain that has never been seen in 150 years. In Spain, there are many fires, as well as in Italy, there are huge fires, and in Hawaii, people run to throw themselves into the ocean to escape the fires.
There are climate-related seed problems in the world and I am very happy that Egypt and Jordan have embarked on this successful initiative to move forward.
You have very important lecturers who speak and lecture at your conferences.
I wish you the best of luck and success as we try to brighten the future.
Thank you very much
After the presentation of the speech, Ms. Mona Abu Al-Futouh, President of District95 Egypt and Jordan, spoke about assigning the region’s clubs from Innerwheel International to implement a national topic and document it for presentation at Manchester International Conference, and the environment topic was chosen due to its seriousness and the importance that the countries of the world attach to it.
It has become necessary to confront environmental problems and make plans to save planet Earth, and humans are the creatures that have the greatest influence on it because they are subject to it.
In light of this year’s Innewheel slogan, which shed light, Her Excellency spoke about introducing the Innewheel Foundation, how it was established, how it developed, its main objectives, its slogan, and how it was created by Mrs. Margaret Golding in 1924. It was officially established in 1934, and in 1962 the beginning of the step towards recognizing it as an international body, and in 1967 it was recognized as an announced body .
In1970, the first international conference for Innerwheel was held in the Netherlands, and days passed, there were 120,000 female members in 4,000 clubs in the world and 1,000 female members at the regional level, and the number of clubs in our region reached 33 clubs.
A documentary film was shown commemorating the 50th anniversary of the founding of District 95, highlighting some of the health projects it provided to serve the community.
Finally, I thanked everyone who attended this purposeful meeting, and to Mrs. Mona Al-Shafi’i, who moderated the meeting, and to Mrs. Magda Fahmy, head of the organizing committee for the Cairo Seminar, who made every effort to bring it to the fullest. And so was the word “Love your environment, for the earth is a trust from God” and it wished safety for all. After that, the lecturers continued their speeches .
At the conclusion of the seminar, everyone expressed their great benefit from all these valuable ideas and initiatives .
On this same day, the Jordan Seminar was held, and Mrs. Mona Abu Al-Futouh gave an opening speech and thanked the members who participated in the Jordan Seminar, directed at Mrs. Suzanne Al-Tayeh.
