The IWC of Alexandria headed by Mrs. Mona El Hakim visited the
Alexandria Drinking Water Company to deliver a check for the amount of
60,000 LE as a donation to install 12 water connections for the neediest
families in the Amiriya area of ​​Alexandria
Hoping that we have contributed to providing a safe and healthy life for
the people of the area and their families.

On Tuesday, December 31, 2024
Under the theme “Heartbeat of Humanity”, IWC of Alexandria, led by Mrs.
Mona El Hakim and accompanied by Dr. Mervat El Azzouni, Vice Chairman of
District 95, paid a heartfelt visit to the Pediatric Oncology Center at
Borg El Arab University Hospital. The delegation was warmly welcomed by
the hospital’s director, Dr. Sherif El Zawawy.

Demonstrating their unwavering commitment to humanitarian service, the
club generously donated 220,000 L.E. to support the purchasing of
life-saving chemotherapy treatments for children battling cancer,
particularly those unable to afford such critical care.

The visit also included a guided tour of the hospital’s newly
established radiotherapy department, reflecting the institution’s
dedication to advancing cancer treatment and care.

Education Support project

On Wednesday 11th of December 2024
Under the theme “Heartbeat of Humanity”
The IWC of Alexandria members headed by Mrs. Mona El Hakim, and in the
presence of the Vice Chairman Dr. Mervat El Azzouni visited the Friends
of Medical Students Association to help cover the expenses of 16
students in the final year at Alexandria Faculty of Medicine.

Breaking the Silence: Addressing Women’s Violence Cases

To raise awareness against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), IWC of
Alexandria, headed by Mrs. Mona El- Hakeem visited the Abused Women Care
Centre on Wednesday, the 27th of November, in the presence of the Vice
Chairman Dr. Mervat El Azzouni and some club members. The attendees
included 35 women who were abuse survivors.
Dr. Amel El-Ghitany, a consultant of Neuropsychiatry, a member of the
club, and the district 95 Webmaster, reviewed the different types of
violence, its causes, and repercussions on the psychological and mental
state, its societal harmful effects, and the different methods of
treatment. Finally, some memorial photos were taken, and the Centre was
inspected for what it provides in terms of work opportunities through
learning some handcrafts.

Membership Growth and Constitution Awareness

On Saturday, November 9, District 95 Egypt and Jordan held a seminar
that included the IWCs of Alexandria and Damanhour to celebrate the
addition of 10 new members. The first workshop of the year was held to
introduce the new members to the Inner Wheel Constitution. It was
delivered by Dr. Awatif El-Nasharty, the Chairman Extension. The new
amendments to the constitution were explained to all members as well.
The workshop was held in the presence of the National Representative,
Mrs. Samia Abul Fotouh, Dr. Mervat El-Azouni, the vice chairman, Mrs.
Ghada Rahmy, the Editor, and Dr. Amel El Ghitany, the webmaster. The
heads of the Inner Wheel clubs in Alexandria and Damanhour and around 70
members from the various clubs of the district were also in attendance.
Many points were discussed, members’ questions were answered, the new
members were awarded the Inner Wheel badge, and commemorative photos
were taken.

The World Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Under the theme “Heartbeat of Humanity”

On Monday 7th of October 2024,
The IWC of Alexandria headed by Mrs. Mona El Hakim and attended by Dr.
Mervat El Azzouni, Vice Chairman of District 95 Egypt & Jordan, in
cooperation with the Rotary Club of Alexandria, headed by Mrs. Khadiga
Khashana and the African Center for Women’s Health Services, headed by
Dr. Mervat El-Sayed, organized an awareness seminar on breast cancer,
delivered by Professor Dr. Walid Arafat, Professor of Oncology at the
Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University.

Dr. Walid Arafat explained several important points, the most important
of which is the periodic self-examination for women, the most important
tips for prevention, such as maintaining a healthy diet full of fiber
and staying away from harmful fats, with a simplified explanation of the
scientific effect of diet on the immune system, and urging regular
exercise for 30 minutes daily, in addition to correcting misconceptions
about the disease.

International Tourism Day/Peace Day.

On Saturday, 28th September 2024, under the theme “Heartbeat of
Humanity”, The IW Clubs of Alexandria (Alexandria, East, El Nozha,
Sporting, Mediterranean and Capital) in collaboration with the “Ministry
of Tourism” and the “Yacht Club of Egypt”, celebrated the International
Day of Peace & Day of Tourism at the Yacht Club of Egypt. This reflects
on the profound connection between tourism and peace.

The celebration started by planting an olive tree “Wish Tree” and
included a mural for peace and tourism painted by Kemet Institution’s
youth and art exhibition by “Sohbet Fann” group. The art exhibition for
peace provided children and youth with a temporary escape from
destructive conflict and simultaneously provides them with an outlet for
their emotions, opinions, and hopes for the future.

The celebration also included Indian folklore dance by “Mawlana” centre,
Egyptian Pharaonic dance by “Tafanin Academy” and a bazaar for
traditional pharaonic, Indian and Russian handicrafts.

Finally, a seminar for peace and tourism was held where the following
topics were covered “Peace building” and “The role of art in promoting
tourism and peace.” The speakers in this seminar included: Prof. Mervat
El Azzouni – Vice Chairman of District 95, Mrs. Mona El Hakim –
President of Peace Committee Rotary Egypt/President of IWC Alexandria,
Mr. Mario De Pascoaly – Honorary Consul of Italy, Mr. Arsini M. –
Director of the Russian Cultural House & Deputy Consul General of
Russia, Ms. Farrah El Dibany, super soprano, and Eng. Hassan Wasfy –
Syndicate of Fine Arts.

The celebration was attended by Dr. Amel El Ghitany- District 95
Webmaster, the IWC’s of Alexandria Presidents, Mrs. Magda Sallam (IWC
Alex East), Mrs. Heba el Kady (IWC Alex ElNozha), Mrs. Amany Selim (IWC
Alex Sporting), Mrs. Heba Aboul Nasr (IWC Alex Mediterranean), Mrs.
Nevine Abd El Rasoul (IWC Alex Capital), Mrs. Soheir Fahmy (IWC Alex
Cleopatra) and Mrs. Zahra EL Lakany (IWC Damanhour).

Collaborate across different cultures

Collaboration across different Cultures.

Under the theme “Heartbeat of Humanity,” and in line with the 3-years
2024-2027 IIW social project “Reach and Inspire for a Better World,”
The IWC of Alexandria headed by Mrs. Mona El Hakim organised a visit to
the Chinese Consulate in Alexandria. In the hospitality of the Consul
General of China, Mr. Yang Yi, who presented an interactive lecture
about “Women and Society in China” and explained the different aspects
of life in China. He also emphasised the importance of cultural
diversity and the possibility of future collaboration between Egyptian
and Chinese organisations to bridge the gap between these two great
cultures.

The visit was attended by the Board Members of the IWC of Alexandria and
the IW Vice-Chairman of District 95 (Egypt & Jordan) Dr. Mervat El
Azzouny, who spoke about the activities and social services of the IW
clubs. District 95 Webmaster, Dr. Amel El Ghitany, Past District 95
Chairman, Mrs. Samia Hatata, and Past District 95 Chairman,Mrs. Mona
Aref were attending.

The visit was also attended by representatives from the IW clubs of
Alexandria; Mrs. Magda Sallam – President of IWC Alexandria East, Mrs.
Heba El Kady – President of IWC Alexandria ElNozha, Mrs. Amani Selim –
President of IWC Alexandria Sporting and Mrs. Dina El Hadary – Vice
President of IWC Alexandria Sporting. Mrs. Mona El Hakim handed the Club
flag & shield to the Consul General of China, thanking him for his kind
hospitality. Consul/ Yang Yi thanked the IW members for their attendance
and handed them symbolic Chinese gifts.

Alexandria IWC – visited the Faculty of Education at Alexandria University

On Tuesday, May 14th, 2024, members of Alexandria IWC led by Mrs.Shahira Maher, visited the Faculty of Education at Alexandria University. They were welcomed by the Dean, Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Farag. The IWC of Alexandria donated 36,300 pounds to cover the expenses of outstanding final-year students, enabling them to graduate and enter the job market. The university expressed their profound thanks and gratitude for this initiative.

IW Of Alexandria & Alexandria East Clubs.

On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, the IWC of Alexandria, led by Mrs. Shahira Maher and accompanied by Vice President Mrs. Khadiga Khashana, collaborated with the IWC of Alexandria East, under the leadership of Dr. Mona Gamal, to host a seminar featuring notable professors: – Ms. Demiana Sami, a nutrition researcher and clinical nutritionist – Ms. Irene Akram, the founder of the Medium Initiative focusing on eating disorders treatment, dance, and movement therapy – Ms. Marwa Gaber, a psychological researcher The seminar, titled “Metwanesa,” explored topics such as compassion, combating loneliness, the significance of vitamins and their alternative sources, and ways to appreciate the body’s capacity for movement. The guests thoroughly enjoyed the discussions and ideas presented, fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie and positivity.
