Spreading Kindness Under the Summer Sun
Under the Theme: “Step Up & Lead by Example”

In a heartfelt humanitarian initiative, members of the Inner Wheel Club
of Alexandria Cleopatra, led by President Maha Halbouni and Honorary
Secretary Doaa Hamdy, have been distributing bottles of cold water to
sanitation workers in various areas of Alexandria.

This compassionate act has been carried out on an almost daily basis
throughout July and August, and will continue until the end of the
summer season. The initiative is a response to the intense summer heat
and serves as a gesture of gratitude and support for those who work
tirelessly to keep the city clean, despite the challenging weather
conditions.

These ongoing efforts reflect the club’s deep commitment to social
responsibility and its dedication to leading by example within the
community.

A Memorable Royal Montaza Garden Tour

At the conclusion of the District Chairman’s visit to the Inner Wheel Clubs of Alexandria, a delightful golf cart tour commenced through the enchanting grounds of Montaza Royal Gardens — the “Oasis of Kings” on Alexandria’s coastline, and one of the most renowned and historic royal gardens in Egypt. Spanning over 300 acres, these magnificent gardens are adorned with lush, sprawling trees, rare plants, and elegant royal palaces built in timeless European style, most notably the historic Montaza Palace.
The guests enjoyed a serene journey amidst the beauty of nature and the fragrance of history, pausing for moments of rest and a refined tea gathering at the charming Royal Tea Island, where everyone came together in an atmosphere of warmth and joyful companionship.
The visit concluded in the most picturesque way, embraced by the soothing melodies of the sea and the vibrant colors of blooming flowers — a scene destined to remain etched in memory, a testament to the enduring bonds of friendship and the timeless joy found in hearts united by kindness and affection.

Annual Interclubs Meeting of the Inner Wheel Clubs of Alexandria and Damanhour

The official annual meeting to review the 2024–2025 projects of the Inner Wheel Clubs of Alexandria and Damanhour was held on Monday, 14th April 2025, at the prestigious Palestine Hotel in the enchanting city of Alexandria, “the Bride of the Mediterranean Sea”, with the esteemed presence of distinguished leaders and valued club members.
The gathering commenced with the ceremonial playing of the national anthems of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, creating a festive and heartfelt atmosphere that reflected a spirit of unity and belonging.
Following this, Dr. Mervat El Azzouny, Vice Chairman of the District, graciously delivered the opening address, warmly welcoming the honorable attendees, most notably Mrs. Samia Aboul Fotouh, National Representative, Mrs. Abeer Dajani, District Chairman, and the distinguished members of the participating clubs.
Dr. El Azzouny then introduced the presidents of the clubs according to the founding dates of their respective clubs, elegantly highlighting the history and continuous contributions of each club to its community.
She subsequently invited Mrs. Samia Aboul Fotouh, the National Representative, to address the gathering. In her speech, Mrs. Aboul Fotouh expressed her deep appreciation for the tireless efforts of the clubs, praising their remarkable humanitarian and community initiatives and their honorable representation of the District both nationally and internationally.
Next, Mrs. Abeer Dajani, District Chairman, addressed the audience, extending her sincere gratitude to her esteemed District Board and expressing her pride in the purposeful projects and impactful initiatives accomplished by the clubs. She emphasized that these achievements reflect the power of collective action and the noble values of solidarity and service.
In a gracious gesture of appreciation, a symbolic gift was presented to Mrs. Abeer Dajani in recognition of her dedicated efforts and continuous commitment throughout the year. Additionally, she generously offered financial support to each club to assist them in advancing their charitable and community initiatives, thereby contributing to the sustainability of their noble mission.
The day’s proceedings concluded in an atmosphere filled with joy and camaraderie, as the attendees enjoyed a delightful luncheon accompanied by soft musical tunes, while capturing memorable photographs to commemorate this distinguished occasion.
This meeting stands as a true embodiment of the values of collaboration and solidarity among the clubs of District 95, reaffirming the leadership’s commitment to nurturing and advancing club activities in pursuit of their noble humanitarian and social objectives. District 95 will remain a beacon of purposeful work and enduring generosity.

Collaborative workshop on Sustainability and Heritage

“Collaborative workshop  on Sustainability and Heritage.

Under the theme”Heartbeat of Humanity,”on Monday, February 24, 2025
The IWC of Alexandria and Rotary Club of Alexandria, in cooperation with
the Italian Consulate and in the attendance of the Italian Consul in
Alexandria, the Alexandria National Museum, and the Friends of the
Bibliotheca Alexandrina Association, organized a workshop entitled
“Sustainability and Heritage” to preserve the environment for students
of the Italian School in Alexandria.

The most important objectives of this workshop were:

* Raising awareness of the importance of preserving the environment.

* ⁠Promoting positive environmental behaviors.

* ⁠Providing practical solutions to environmental problems.

* ⁠Encouraging community participation in protecting the environment.

The workshop also included lectures given by experts from the Ministry
of Environment in Alexandria and interactive workshops to learn
environmental conservation skills.

The students hung Promise to the Environment on the tree, which is the
lesson learned from the workshop.

They also toured the National Museum to learn about antiquities and
natural history.

Inspiring night of Sevice and donation work

Under the theme “Heartbeat of Humanity”
The members of the IWC Club of Alexandria Capital, led by Dr. Suzan
Darwish and Honorary Secretary Dr. Ola Ewais had the honor of hosting
Professor Dr. Nihal Elshakankiri, Professor of Ophthalmology, at the
Syrian Club for a special symposium on the Pediatric Eye Unit at the
Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University.

Dr. Elshakankiri shared the inspiring journey of establishing and
developing the unit, which has thrived through donations and volunteer
work. Over the past 30 years, the center has performed more than 30,000
free surgeries, providing critical eye care to children across Egypt,
Sudan, and numerous African nations.

Following the symposium, the club president had the pleasure of awarding
the Inner Wheel pin to our newest member, Dr. Manale Elewah, welcoming
her into our community.

We also took the opportunity to celebrate the birthday of our dear
friend Shahira Farouk, enjoying a warm and joyful gathering filled with
camaraderie and love.

Medical Seminar

Under the theme “Heartbeat of Humanity” and in alignment with the core
objectives of the International Inner Wheel President for the year
2024/2025 —particularly the prevention of cervical cancer—and
coinciding with World Cancer Day in February, the Inner Wheel Club of
Alexandria, led by Mrs. Mona El Hakim organized an insightful seminar on
Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Syrian Club.

The event featured a distinguished guest speaker, Dr. Mahmoud Hamdy,
Consultant and Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Faculty of
Medicine, Alexandria University. His presentation covered essential
topics related to breast tumors and cervical cancer, emphasizing
preventive measures. The session proved highly beneficial to attendees,
offering them valuable medical insights.

The interactive discussions between Dr. Hamdy and the club members
enriched the seminar, making it even more impactful. The event was
graced by the presence of Dr. Mervat El Azzouni, Vice Chairman of
District 95 (Egypt & Jordan), and Dr. Amel El Ghitany, District 95
Webmaster.

The seminar was a resounding success, providing attendees with
invaluable medical knowledge in an engaging and informative atmosphere.

 Seminar on Women in the Diplomatic Field

On Monday, January 20, 2025, the Inner Wheel Club (IWC) of Alexandria,
led by Ms. Mona El Hakim hosted Counselor Abeer Ali, Consul General of
Lebanon in Alexandria, for a seminar titled “Women in the Diplomatic
Field.”

The event was attended by Vice Chairman Dr. Mervat El Azzouni, Webmaster
Dr. Amel El Ghitany, District Past Chairman Mrs. Mona Aref, along with
the presidents and members of the Inner Wheel clubs of Alexandria and
distinguished guests.

Counselor Abeer Ali shared her extensive experience and insightful
perspectives on the evolving role of women in international relations.
Her presentation covered key topics, including:

The historical challenges women have faced in the diplomatic field.

The value of women’s perspectives in decision-making and
peace-building processes.

Effective strategies used by women to overcome barriers in diplomacy.

An engaging discussion followed, addressing the challenges faced by
female diplomats, their advocacy for women’s issues, and their
contributions to promoting gender equality in diplomatic roles. The
session also highlighted progress made toward achieving gender parity in
this field.

In a gesture of appreciation, each club president presented their
club’s flag to Counselor Abeer Ali. The event concluded with group
photos, celebrating the occasion in an atmosphere of friendship,
collaboration, and mutual respect.

Breaking the Silence: Addressing Women’s Violence Cases

To raise awareness against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), IWC of
Alexandria, headed by Mrs. Mona El- Hakeem visited the Abused Women Care
Centre on Wednesday, the 27th of November, in the presence of the Vice
Chairman Dr. Mervat El Azzouni and some club members. The attendees
included 35 women who were abuse survivors.
Dr. Amel El-Ghitany, a consultant of Neuropsychiatry, a member of the
club, and the district 95 Webmaster, reviewed the different types of
violence, its causes, and repercussions on the psychological and mental
state, its societal harmful effects, and the different methods of
treatment. Finally, some memorial photos were taken, and the Centre was
inspected for what it provides in terms of work opportunities through
learning some handcrafts.

The World Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Under the theme “Heartbeat of Humanity”

On Monday 7th of October 2024,
The IWC of Alexandria headed by Mrs. Mona El Hakim and attended by Dr.
Mervat El Azzouni, Vice Chairman of District 95 Egypt & Jordan, in
cooperation with the Rotary Club of Alexandria, headed by Mrs. Khadiga
Khashana and the African Center for Women’s Health Services, headed by
Dr. Mervat El-Sayed, organized an awareness seminar on breast cancer,
delivered by Professor Dr. Walid Arafat, Professor of Oncology at the
Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University.

Dr. Walid Arafat explained several important points, the most important
of which is the periodic self-examination for women, the most important
tips for prevention, such as maintaining a healthy diet full of fiber
and staying away from harmful fats, with a simplified explanation of the
scientific effect of diet on the immune system, and urging regular
exercise for 30 minutes daily, in addition to correcting misconceptions
about the disease.

International Tourism Day/Peace Day.

On Saturday, 28th September 2024, under the theme “Heartbeat of
Humanity”, The IW Clubs of Alexandria (Alexandria, East, El Nozha,
Sporting, Mediterranean and Capital) in collaboration with the “Ministry
of Tourism” and the “Yacht Club of Egypt”, celebrated the International
Day of Peace & Day of Tourism at the Yacht Club of Egypt. This reflects
on the profound connection between tourism and peace.

The celebration started by planting an olive tree “Wish Tree” and
included a mural for peace and tourism painted by Kemet Institution’s
youth and art exhibition by “Sohbet Fann” group. The art exhibition for
peace provided children and youth with a temporary escape from
destructive conflict and simultaneously provides them with an outlet for
their emotions, opinions, and hopes for the future.

The celebration also included Indian folklore dance by “Mawlana” centre,
Egyptian Pharaonic dance by “Tafanin Academy” and a bazaar for
traditional pharaonic, Indian and Russian handicrafts.

Finally, a seminar for peace and tourism was held where the following
topics were covered “Peace building” and “The role of art in promoting
tourism and peace.” The speakers in this seminar included: Prof. Mervat
El Azzouni – Vice Chairman of District 95, Mrs. Mona El Hakim –
President of Peace Committee Rotary Egypt/President of IWC Alexandria,
Mr. Mario De Pascoaly – Honorary Consul of Italy, Mr. Arsini M. –
Director of the Russian Cultural House & Deputy Consul General of
Russia, Ms. Farrah El Dibany, super soprano, and Eng. Hassan Wasfy –
Syndicate of Fine Arts.

The celebration was attended by Dr. Amel El Ghitany- District 95
Webmaster, the IWC’s of Alexandria Presidents, Mrs. Magda Sallam (IWC
Alex East), Mrs. Heba el Kady (IWC Alex ElNozha), Mrs. Amany Selim (IWC
Alex Sporting), Mrs. Heba Aboul Nasr (IWC Alex Mediterranean), Mrs.
Nevine Abd El Rasoul (IWC Alex Capital), Mrs. Soheir Fahmy (IWC Alex
Cleopatra) and Mrs. Zahra EL Lakany (IWC Damanhour).
