Awareness of Clean Planet

“Awareness of a Clean Planet”

Date: September 23, 2023

Location: Intercontinental Hotel, Amman, Jordan.

Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Talal, the three Inner Wheel Clubs in Jordan – Amman, Philadelphia, and Petra – came together to host a remarkable seminar titled “Awareness of a Clean Planet.” This seminar was held as part of District 95 Egypt and Jordan Mega Project for this centennial year “ Save the Earth”.

The event brought together distinguished speakers, environmental initiatives, and young minds passionate about environmental sustainability.

Guest Speakers:

*  HE Mrs. Haifa Najjar – Minister of Culture: The seminar had the privilege of hosting HE Mrs. Haifa Najjar, who shared insights into the cultural aspects of environmental awareness, emphasizing the importance of cultural preservation in the journey towards a cleaner planet.

*  HE Mr. Nabil Masarweh – Former Minister of Environment: Representing HRH Princess Basma, his excellency delivered a thought-provoking address, highlighting the crucial role of leadership and government initiatives in environmental conservation.

Panel Speakers:

The seminar featured a diverse panel of experts who provided invaluable perspectives on environmental conservation:

*  Mrs. Mayyada Abu Jaber, PhD: A Management of Technology and Innovation expert and Echidna Global Scholar at the Brookings Institution, UNESCO The Da Vinci Institute, Mrs. Abu Jaber shared her extensive knowledge on the role of women in advancing the environmental challenges.

*  Mr. Osama Hasan: An Eco-tourism & Landscaping Development Expert, Mr. Hasan’s insights into preserving natural and cultural sites were enlightening. His international experience, including work with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature added depth to the discussions.

*  Mr. Mahamad Asfour – Head of the Green Building Council: Mr. Asfour’s expertise in green building practices and sustainability provided attendees with valuable insights into environmentally friendly construction and design.

Student Participation:

The seminar showcased the dedication of IB students from various schools who shared their personal projects related to environmental sustainability. Their enthusiasm and innovative ideas served as an inspiration to all in attendance.

Environmental Initiatives:

Four local environmental initiatives made their presence felt at the seminar:

*  The Arab Group For The Protection of Nature a non for profit organization. concerned with the protection of the environment and natural resources of Arab countries against all hazards.

*  King Hussein Cancer Center: The center’s involvement highlighted the intersection of health and the environment, emphasizing the need for a clean planet for a healthier future.

*  ProjectSea Initiative: A dedicated initiative to extend the passion of scuba diving towards cleaning up the sea.

*  Ahl Albalad Initiative: Focused on community-driven environmental efforts, in promoting environmental awareness.

Artistic Expression:

One of the most heartwarming aspects of the seminar was the display of paintings created by children with Down Syndrome from the Bunayat Center for Special Education in Jordan. Their artwork conveyed powerful messages about the urgency of preserving our planet, reminding us all that the responsibility for a clean environment rests on our shoulders.

Conclusion:

The “Awareness of a Clean Planet” seminar, was a successful event due to the dedication of the members of the Inner Wheels Clubs in Jordan. It not only educated attendees about the critical need for environmental awareness but also demonstrated the power of collaboration, innovation, and grassroots initiatives in building a sustainable future. This event serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who are committed to the cause of a cleaner, healthier planet.

environmental preservation activity for the International Day of Peace for Inner Wheel Clubs

In activation of the International Day of the Deaf, which was celebrated on September 15, 2023, the members of the Innerwheel Club of  Mansoura , headed by Mrs. Shadia Al-Ashry, on September 18, visited the Nedaa Association for the Rehabilitation of Hearing Impaired Children, which is one of the club’s sustainable projects, and they made a donation amounting to 10,000 pounds. May God always enable us to continue the path of goodness and giving.

The last activity of IW Club of Amman on Tuesday 20/6/2023 was a

Fundraiser for King Hussein Cancer Center.

President Vivian Anz Qaqish welcomed Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Ali, the Jordanian Minister of Culture, Ms. Haifa Najjar, Ms. Nisreen Qatamesh, Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Center, the NR Ms. Susan Al-Tayeh and VC Ms. Abeer Dajani, and the esteemed audience.

The official sponsor of the ceremony was “Madaboon” the beautiful venue that our colleague Shereen Hamarneh and her generous family kindly donated to accomplish this  gathering for a noble cause, which is to help cancer patients who are unable to afford treatment expenses.

A short film about the support  of Inner Wheel clubs of Jordan  to King Hussein Cancer Center for the past fifteen years, especially IWClub of Amman which perseveres in supporting this medical edifice  annually through its  successive administrative bodies.

The King Hussein Cancer Center honored IW Club of Amman represented by president Vivian Anz Qaqish, and also honored the official sponsor of the ceremony, “Madaboon” represented by Mrs. Shereen Hamarneh.

Club members and guests enjoyed the music of the (Jurf’s Gentlemen) band, which thankfully donated their presence.

Green Wheelz by IWC of Amman

Monday 5th of June is World Environment Day, and this year’s world campaign is #beat plastic pollution, plastic destroys the environment. In solidarity with the message of IIW and our club’s vision regarding this issue President Vivian Anz kakish, accompanied by some ladies of the committee, for the second time during this year, handed over to ( Green Wheelz) initiative a large batch of plastic caps that was collected from the club’s ladies and their friends, who believe in the importance of a cleaner environment for future generations.

The (Green Wheelz) initiative aims to clean the environment by collecting, sorting and selling plastic caps for recycling, and using the financial returns to support cerebral palsy patients in terms of health and education.

IWC of Amman donated food boxes to three Societies and Home of Peace for the Elderly Care

On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, IW Club of Amman president Mrs. Vivian Anz Qakish along with members of the committee visited three societies and presented IWC of Amman donation of ninety five food boxes as follows:-

1- Thirty-five (35) food packages to (Basmet Yateem Society) in Wihdat.

2- Thirty five (35) food packages to (Abu Huraira centre for orphans) in Hay Nazzal.

3- Twenty five food packages to (Nadi Al Mustakbal for the physically challenged) in Jabal Al Hussein.

And for Those celebrating Easter the president and committee ladies visited (Home of Peace for the elderly care) run by Mother Teresa Sisterhood and donated stacks of food needed.

 

May we always be able to give a helping hand for those in need.

The Inauguration for IWC of Amman project: A Fully Equipped Sewing Workshop in the Kafrin area in the Jordan Valley

Monday 13/3/2023, was the inauguration date for IWC of Amman project for this year, which is a fully equipped sewing workshop in the Kafrin area in the Jordan Valley, it is affiliated with the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development / JOHUD.

In the presence of the National Representative D 95, Ms. Suzan Al-Kilani, club President Mrs. Vivian Anz Qaqish cut the opening ribbon. The lady guests toured the sewing workshop and met the women of the Ghor area who are currently doing a sewing course.

The president delivered a brief speech, in which she welcomed NR Mrs. Suzan Al Kilani, then talked about the project, its stages and its full cost and thanked Mrs. Noha Asfour, who personally undertook most of the expenses of this huge project.

Mrs. Hala Abu Nowar from JOHD presented the Princess Basma Foundation for Human Development shield to President Vivian Anz Qaqish for her amazing work, and a shield to Mrs. Noha Asfour for her generous donation. On the occasion of Mother’s Day, we went to our colleague Ghada Bedair farm in the Jordan Valley to have lunch on this beautiful occasion. The atmosphere was beautiful, full of positive energy,

The food was delicious, prepared mostly by the hands of the ladies of the committee, and during lunch 42 gifts were presented on entry tickets, which added enthusiasm and happiness to those who won from the attendees.

IW club of Amman president and committee presented a symbolic gift to Mrs. Ghada Bedir, for her hospitality and generosity.

IWC of Amman visited the King Hussein Foundation’s Family Health Foundation’s Family Health Institute in Sweileh

To mark International Women’s Day, in line with IWC of Amman’s commitment to improving the status of women, and for the second year running, Mrs. Vivian Anz Qaqish President of the Club accompanied by members of the committee visited the King Hussein Foundation’s Family Health Institute in Sweileh on 1st March 2023 and gave a donation on behalf of the Club to cover the costs of fifty cervical smear tests for women who live in marginalized areas that the Institute serve.

Among the principles adopted by the Institute is “leaving no one behind” and providing services in response to the needs of the most vulnerable and marginalized communities. The Institute provides its services to families and individuals in need throughout their life cycle. It is committed to empowering and supporting women, as the percentage of women employees in the Institute is 75%.

We hope that the forthcoming Club committees continue this tradition and maintain the annual donation to the Family Health Institute due to the importance of sustainably supporting women’s health, especially in marginalized areas

IW Club of Amman held a workshop to familiarize the club’s ladies with the IW Constitution.

IW Club of Amman held a workshop on October 18,2022 to familiarize the club’s ladies with the IW Constitution.

President Vivian Anz welcomed the National Representative of D95 Egypt and Jordan, Mrs. Suzan Al-Kilani, and Vice Chairman, Mrs. Abeer Dajani. She also welcomed President and members of IW club of Philadelphia, President and members of IW Club of Petra, together with IW club of Amman ladies.

The workshop was conducted by D95 NR Mrs. Suzan Al-Kilani, who explained to the attendees in detail about the Innerwheel pyramid starting with the IIW  Governing Body and the National Governing Body going down to the Districts and ending it with the club. Ms. Suzan explained the tasks of each job, there were some questions that she answered with clear and adequate explanation.

The Vice Chairman , Mrs. Abeer Al-Dajani, conveyed the message of District  95 Chairman , Mrs. Nora Fayek to the audience, explaining the IW theme for this year ( Work Wonders ) and stressing the importance of empowering women, taking care of their health and the subject of education, as women are the foundation of society and the educators of the new generation.

It was a useful workshop, which the ladies enjoyed and benefited from
