Pink October: A Morning of Hope and Humanity
Under the Patronage of HRH Princess Dina Mired
“O Allah, bless this day with goodness and grace, and fill tomorrow
with light and hope that never fades.”
On October 7, 2025, a meaningful gathering took place in the gardens of
Al Qasr Hotel, under the gracious patronage of Her Royal Highness
Princess Dina Mired, marking Pink October — a month dedicated to
awareness, resilience, and honoring women who have faced illness with
patience and grace.
In October, pink is not just a color — it is a symbol of life, and a
call for better health and compassionate care.
The event opened with the Royal National Anthem, followed by a moment of
silence in honor of the martyrs in Palestine. Club President Mrs. Shada
Anabtawi Al-Khalil delivered a heartfelt welcome, expressing deep
appreciation for the presence of HRH Princess Dina Mired, Honorary
Ambassador of the Mariam Foundation, and Mr. Ahmad Hamed, Director of
the Mariam Foundation in Palestine.
HRH Princess Dina gave a moving speech, shedding light on the daily
challenges faced by cancer patients in Jordan and the even more severe
struggles endured by patients in Palestine — where limited resources,
travel restrictions, and treatment barriers complicate every step of
their journey.
She also spoke of the collaboration that began between the King Hussein
Cancer Center (during her presidency) and the Mariam Foundation, which
made it possible to welcome and treat children and cancer patients from
Palestine in Jordan.
As a continuation of these efforts, the “Friends of Mariam” program
was recently launched under the patronage of HRH Prince Mired bin Raad
and HRH Princess Dina Mired, affirming the importance of standing beside
cancer patients and their families in Gaza and throughout Palestine.
The event continued with an emotional and inspiring talk by Mr. Mohammad
Hamed, founder of the Mariam Foundation. He shared his personal journey,
which began with the heartbreaking loss of his sister Mariam after a
three-year battle with cancer.
Mohammad recalled his time as a teenager in Haifa’s hospitals,
witnessing the suffering and isolation of young cancer patients living
under occupation. It was then — at the age of fifteen — that he
dreamed of establishing a foundation to support them.
After completing his university studies in the United States, he
formally founded the Mariam Foundation in 2012. Today, the foundation
provides medical, financial, emotional, and educational support to
cancer patients and their families across occupied Palestine.
The morning featured a touching candle-making activity — one for each
woman in attendance — along with valuable raffle prizes, a charity
auction of products created by pioneering women in fashion and jewelry,
and generous personal donations, all in support of this vital
humanitarian cause.
It was truly a morning filled with hope, reflected in the kindness,
unity, and generosity of all who attended.
Your presence embodied the highest values of compassion, solidarity, and
giving, in support of cancer patients in Jordan and Palestine.
May you always be blessed with health and well-being
