Elderly Care Initiative
Supporting Elderly Alzheimer’s Patients Through Art Therapy:
Cost 30,000L.E
Under the theme“ Heartbeat of Humanity,” on Tuesday, January 21,
Inner Wheel Club of Nasr City, headed by Mrs. Gihan Faheem and
accompanied by several club members attended a seminar on art therapy
for Alzheimer’s patients at the Al-Baqiyat Al-Salihat Association for
the Elderly and Alzheimer’s patients, founded by the late Dr. Abla
Al-Kahlawi, and currently managed by Dr. Marwa Yassin and Dr. Rodina
Yassin, the daughters of Dr. Abla.
The association hosted a number of speakers who emphasized that art
therapy helps to develop a greater sense of self-awareness through
creative expression. They explained how artistic activities play an
effective role in adapting to daily life, aiding in memory recall, and
enhancing focus and attention on the required artistic activity.
They also highlighted that advanced age can still be a time for
creativity, citing numerous examples of public figures, both globally
and in the Arab world, who maintained a high level of focus until the
end of their lives.
After the seminar, the members of the club viewed some of the artwork
created by the residents of the association. Additionally, a donation of
30,000 Egyptian pounds was made by the club to support charitable
activities for the residents of the association.
