Petra Club Project.
On the occasion of Mrs. Mona Abu El-Fotouh’s visit to Jordan on June 3rd 2024 the President of Area 95, accompanied by a delegation from Egypt, the three Inner Wheel Clubs of Jordan decided to review the Petra Club project in collaboration with the Agricultural Research Center to evaluate this distinctive project in the field of promoting innovation and transferring the outcomes of innovative projects to farmers in the region.
The Agricultural Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubator at the center is considered the first of its kind in the region. It works on nurturing young entrepreneurs, turning their ideas into projects that are realized on the ground and employing the outcomes of creative ideas to serve farmers and the agricultural sector.
During the visit, the center’s director highlighted the economic modernization vision, which will serve as a roadmap for the National Agricultural Research Center in enhancing innovation and investment opportunities in the agricultural sector, a vital contributor to food security and agricultural sustainability.
During the meeting, Engineer Islam Abu Halawa, the originator of the project idea, shared his experience and expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Inner Wheel Petra Club for this pioneering agricultural innovation (Zero Waste Garden) with a value of 700 dinars.
This project involves the breeding of specific types of earthworms that feed on organic waste and produce organic fertilizer known as vermicompost, considered the highest quality of organic fertilizers.
In the meeting, Mrs. Alawneh expressed her thanks to the center, praised the efforts made, and explained that this support was provided to the project with the aim of utilizing and transferring its outputs to three pioneering farms with a value of 300 dinars to maximize the benefits of the project and enhance the use of organic fertilizers. After the meeting, the delegation toured all the center’s facilities to review the activities and services provided to citizens in various agricultural fields.
