A visit of IIW president to Khan Al-Khalili, the oldest guarded market in Egypt
The neighborhood of Khan Al-Khalili is 600 years old. It is considered one of the oldest markets in the Middle East, and it maintains its ancient architecture since the Mamluk era. The famous and timeless neighborhood continues to inspire writers and artists. Egypt’s foremost novelist, Nobel Laureate, Naguib Mahfouz is one of those of writers who, whose novel “Khan al-Khalili” memorializes the neighborhood’s aura. Therefore, D95 Chairman Nora Fayek was keen to host the lIW president at Naguib Mahfouz Restaurant. Mrs. Zenaida Farcon and her husband enjoyed the evening, which coincided with the birthday of past president Hala Hagras. The attendees celebrated it in an atmosphere of love and friendship.
